PROJECT SUMMARY
This project is located on approximately 20 to 25 acres of property on Civic Center Boulevard. The building is a multi-use facility with over 102,000 s.f. of area under roof and a seating capacity of over 5,000. Parking for the facility exceeds 1,600 vehicles. The Civic Center has over 38,000 s.f. of exhibit space, 10,000 s.f. of meeting/banquet space, a fully-equipped kitchen with two concession areas, four dressing rooms with private baths, and numerous
restroom areas. The building’s design utilizes materials that require little or no maintenance. Exterior walls were constructed of brick and insulated metal panels. The roof is all standing seam metal with no flat areas. Inside, there are over 20,000 s.f. of intricately designed terrazzo floors. All site utility improvements and roads were let as the initial contract. This portion of the work was completed prior to the construction of the Civic Center. Immediately after completion of site improvements, the contract was let for the building. Construction went at a brisk pace as the total contract time was only 18 months. During this period, additional contracts were let for various other aspects to complete the facility. The facility had its grand opening on January 6, 1999 with all phases of the project substantially complete. Since that time, a 6,500 s.f. storage building has been built to house numerous items that the Civic Center has purchased for operations. The project was completed on time and within approved budgets.
